Why run for ReM.A.R.C.able

The foundation was established in 2023 by Marc Fucarile, who lost his right leg above the knee in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Running Boston for his team carries a meaning few charity bibs can match, and the results show it: the 2026 team raised $88,232 for people living with mobility challenges.

  • Run the 131st Boston Marathon as part of an official charity team
  • Fundraise for adaptive equipment, caregiver support, and community programs
  • Join a team with deep roots in the Boston running community

Who should submit a 2027 Boston Marathon application?

If you have ever wanted to run Boston for a reason bigger than the finish line, this team is for you. Charity runners do not need a Boston qualifying time. They earn their bib through the charity team and its fundraising, which opens the race to runners of every pace.

You do not have to live in New England to apply. Past ReM.A.R.C.able teams have included runners from across the United States and as far away as Portugal, many of them running in honor of someone close to them who lives with a disability.

What happens after you apply

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so the earlier you apply, the better. Runners selected for the team commit to raising funds for the foundation’s core programs: adaptive equipment such as handcycles and mono skis, financial assistance for individuals and caregivers facing the cost of care, and grants to disability-focused nonprofits and disability-owned businesses.

Key dates

  • Application deadline: October 5, 2026
